BEACH RUGBY 7S TOURNAMENT
Tournament Rules

Players:
Each team may register a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 players
Substitutions are allowed, whenever the ball is not in play
A player who has been replaced can come back on
It is essential that players are officially registered with their national/regional rugby federation
Players should wear sports trainers (without studs), not boots

Playing Area:
Size depends on availability (tides, etc.)
Playing area will be hosed/watered before tournament begins

Length of Matches:
Two halves of six minutes each, with a one-minute half-time
The Junior Final will be two halves of 8 minutes
The Senior Men's and Women's Finals will be two halves of 10 minutes

Scoring:
Try : 5 points      Drop-Goal : 3 points      Conversion : 2 points

Scrum:
Each scrummage is made up of 3 players per team, plus the respective scrum-half

Throw-ins:
Each throw-in is made up of the thrower, two jumpers and the scrum-half
Players competing for the ball must be separated from each other by at least 5 metres

Penalty Kicks and Free-Kicks:
All of the above must be played from the hand. No direct kicking
Players of the infringing team must move back a minimum distance of 5 metres from the point indicated by the referee

The 22-Metre Line:
It is approximately 8 metres from the try-line  and will be indicated by the referee in the event of poor visibility

Kicks:
Kick-offs and re-starts require a drop-kick (the ball must travel 5 metres)
The "22-metre" kick will also involve a drop-kick
The ball may be "placed" for conversion attempts
During normal play, kicking the ball is permitted :
If the ball bounces before going out of play, the throw-in will take place where the ball went out
If the ball goes out on the full, the throw-in is taken in line with where the kick took place, even if it was inside the "22"
When a player effects an unlawful kick, a scrum will be given to the other team
After points are scored, the successful team kicks off from the halfway line

Tournament Format:
The system will depend on the number of teams that ultimately present themselves on the day

Sending-offs:
Players who are sin-binned must spend 4 minutes behind the goal-posts
A player sin-binned 3 times is definitively expelled from the tournament
Any player who is permanently sent off in a match plays no further part in the tournament

Other Points:
All other rules correspond to regular XV-a-side Rugby
The referee always has the last word
The tournament organizers reserve the right to modify these rules
